Just Another Story

I don’t know what is true

and what are lies.

Everything that I see,

I create my own story about.

The bird in the tree,

the ship sailing

across the sea,

the things that I love,

the things that I don’t—

all stories, that I’ve made up.

How do I know what’s real

and what’s not?

How do I untie this knot,

untangle these thoughts?

Everyone creates their own stories

about everything.

We even tend to believe the stories

other people narrate,

whether real or fake,

or simply, a series of mistakes.

How do we decide?

Do we need to see it,

or will our eyes create

another disguise?

We make up what we believe,

what we think we know

and what we don’t.

No two stories are exactly the same.

Some change

while others remain.

Is this a game?

Who’s to blame?

Or is this just

another story too?

About This Poem;

My poem explores the uncertainty between reality and perception. It reflects on how everyone creates personal stories about what they see, feel, and believe, often shaped by their own experiences and interpretations. The poem asks how we can know what is truly real when so much of our understanding is filtered through our own minds and the stories we create. It invites us to question, observe, and become aware of the difference between what is happening and the meaning we give it.
