Hopefully Suffering
Hope is just a joke,
A big fat hoax.
Hope is just a want
in fancy disguise.
Hiding and Lying…
You can hope for this or that,
and no matter how much you may hope,
nothing may ever come of it.
Hope is just an attachment to nothing,
wanting to make nothing into
something.
It’s just another way of suffering,
wasting your time and energy hoping.
Attaching to an idea of nothingness.
When your hopes don’t happen,
disappointment leads to discouragement,
and hope may only lead you
down a path of suffering.
About This Poem:
This poem “Hopefully Suffering” challenges the idea that hope is always positive. It explores how hope can become an attachment to an imagined outcome—turning nothing into something in our minds. When what we hope for doesn’t happen, that attachment can lead to disappointment, discouragement, and ultimately suffering.
At its heart, the poem asks us to consider whether hope gives us peace—or keeps us attached to something that may never be.
