I Want to Ride the Sky
I wonder what it’s like
to be a bird,
to fly so high,
riding the sky,
with the wind on my face,
moving with grace,
part of such an amazing place.
To spread my wings,
hear my feathers sing
to the sound of the wind
between my wings.
To see all things—
beautiful sights,
wide open skies,
and ocean tides,
spread my wings wide.
I want to build a home in a tree,
and just be.
About this Poem:
“I Want to Ride the Sky” is a reflection on the longing for freedom, movement, and the simple peace of being. Inspired by the sight of a bird soaring through the sky, the poem explores what it might feel like to spread your wings, rise above it all, and experience the world from a different perspective. Yet beneath the desire to fly is something quieter—the longing to have a place to belong, to feel at home, and ultimately, to simply be.
