Dandelions of Deception
I had a beautiful idea of you,
made you into everything
I never wanted to forget.
I hung onto your every word.
because,
I preferred you.
When I noticed discrepancies
I picked them,
one by one,
like dandelions,
and blew them away,
watching them fade away.
My remedy…..
But I always keep the stems
so I’d remember.
About this Poem
The poem is about idealizing someone, ignoring their flaws to preserve a preferred version of them, and still holding onto traces of what was dismissed.
